When choosing an online bank there are a few aspects that you need to consider. Online banking has become a very, very common practice, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the appropriate precautions. Doing your transactions online is perfectly safe, as long as you take make the proper arrangements, and choose a banking institution that will appropriately protect your information.
So when searching for an online banking service to use, go through the FDIC website. The FDIC will list all banks that are FDIC insured, and any bank that isn’t, is not worth your time or effort. A bank that doesn’t have FDIC insurance is one that isn’t safe enough for you to trust your money, or financial transactions with.
Now from that list look up to see what the interest rates are for each bank. You want to find an agreeable rate, one that you’ll be happy with in the long term. It’s better for your credit to have long term bank accounts, so find one you’ll be comfortable with for a prolonged period of time.
Make sure that the bank you like doesn’t have any account fees or minimum balance requirements, as both of these can cause problems you’d want to avoid. Many banks require a minimum account balance, mostly as an excuse to earn profit by penalizing you. So do your research so you can avoid any of that mess, and keep your money in your account, where it belongs.
Finally, assess the customer service options available to you. Make sure that you’ll be able to make contact with a bank representative quickly should there ever be a problem. That’s extremely important, as you want a bank that’s as easy as possible to deal with. Also look at what sort of sign up bonuses a bank is offering. If you find more than one that you like, may as well go with the bank that gives you the best bonus!

There’s a lot of talk going around about health care reform, but how can you get the care you need now without waiting for the legislators to stop arguing? There are millions of people living in the United States right now without health insurance, and this can be an extremely dangerous prospect. Not because you wouldn’t be able to get medical attention when needed, that’s always readily available. But because not having medical insurance can lead some people to let an ailment or illness go untreated, for fear they can’t afford treatment. But what you should realize is, no matter what you do have options.
Consider doing a little research. For example, there are almost 7000 free/low cost clinics all across the country. Some of them teaching hospitals with are usually completely free of cost to the patient. These hospitals operate at no cost to the patient as they allow doctors coming through the ranks to receive an education. There are many available, and you should check to see if any are near you. There are also a plethora of low cost clinics with payment arrangements designed to fit any budget. This way you get the care you need as soon as possible.
There are also government programs, such as Medicaid to provide for those with medical problems that can’t afford medical insurance. Just look into the programs available, and chances are if you’re pregnant, elderly, or disabled and can’t afford insurance, there’s a program set up to help you. Sometimes the paperwork can be a hassle to go through, but it’s a lot less hassle than waiting till the last minute when you have a serious problem.
Other than that, just keep in mind that if you have a serious ailment, whether you can pay or not any public hospital is required by law to treat you. You’re almost guaranteed to have a public hospital in your area, and always keep in mind that the treatment is there when you need it, don’t be afraid to take advantage. There’s nothing worse than waiting until it’s too late because you’re afraid you won’t be able to afford treatment.
