30 Oct 09 Joe Wonders, Should He Quit His Job Part – 2

Through this series, I am attempting to help Joe who wants to change is current job, but he is very much confused. He is not sure, if he is making a right decision or not. In the first part of the series we asked Joe some questions about his current job. In this part, we will ask questions about Joe’s financial condition and will also ask Joe to evaluate himself in terms of finance.

Analysis of Joe’s financial condition

Before Joe can jump out of his current job and take up a new venture, he needs to understand his present financial condition. If he is not very much sound financially then he should stick to his current job until his financial condition improves. To find out how healthy is his financial, Joe needs to ask the following questions:

  • How good is your credit rating? Joe needs to have a very healthy credit rating before he should quit his job. If his credit rating is not good then Joe should stay in his current job and build a strong credit score before he can think of quitting the job.
  • Can he sustain his life for six months without a regular income? No matter how starry-eyed Joe is, he will not be able to make any difference, if all he got is dream. He needs to think about his family and their life. He needs to put bread on the table, pay his bills, support his child, and have some savings for medical and other emergencies. And if Joe can do all these for six months then Joe is good to go. He should quit the job and chase his dream. Six month is a long time, if his dream is realistic and executable, he can start anew in this period.
  • Does he have sufficient savings to support his dream?
  • From where is he planning to get financial support to go all in?
  • Does he have medical and insurance policies in place? When is the premium due? What if he fails to make the premium? How much will it affect his and his family’s medical and insurance coverage?
  • What about his retirement plan? How will it get affected if he fails to make deposit to his retirement fund?
  • Is his wife earning? Can she support Joe’s family? And for how long can she do so?

Joe would not like to put his family life in jeopardy by making a reckless decision. Hence, these questions are worth considering before he could bid adieu to his current job.

13 Jun 09 Choosing The Right Clothes For Running

Something that many runners don’t necessarily even realize the importance of, is what sort of clothing you wear whilst you run.  Clothing is very important, as it can have a massive impact on your performance, as something as important as comfort can affect how long you can run, or how much effort you put into that run.  Not to mention the affects to your health, such as managing your body temperature during a run.

You want to look for clothing made specifically for athletics, as these go through a different technical process so that they are perfectly suited for the conditions your body goes through during strenuous physical activity.  Look for clothing that uses features like DryFit, CoolMax, Thermax, or Thinsulate technology, as these will absorb the sweat from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable, but also won’t be weighed down by the amount of water they absorb.  The problem with more standard clothing, like cotton products, is that cotton absorbs water, but then stays wet for a long time.  That will not only weigh you down, but will also lower your body temperature in colder weather.

And body temperature is another factor that you want to be concerned about when choosing which clothing to wear on which day.  Keep in mind that since you will be doing heavy cardiovascular exercise, you’ll need to dress as though the weather were 20-25 degrees warmer to compensate for your body temperature.  That way you can dress lightly enough to remain comfortable, no matter what the weather is like.

Finally, in selecting clothing you want to ensure that it conforms to your movements without any effort from you, so that you can run with ease and not have to worry about battling the clothes on your  back.  Something that stretches through your movements effortlessly, as most athletic wear does, is perfect.  That way you’re comfortable, and your body will retain it’s full range of movement.

09 Apr 09 How Exactly Do You Network Effectively?

In building your website or blog the main piece of advice for success that’s thrown around is the importance of networking.  And it’s true, networking is the most effective means to drive your website’s traffic and get yourself out there.  But how exactly should you go about networking yourself to receive the most effectiveness from your effort?

Well first off you have to understand just what it means to network your website.  Networking on the internet refers to building relationships with other sites that offer similar content or interests to your site, so that both parties will exchange links on the websites they own, giving a chance for both sites to be noticed by opposing traffic.  Practically every site owner is open to these sorts of link exchanges, because in pretty much every case it’s a fantastic way to get credibility and higher traffic for your website.

The more reputable places you appear, the better your reputation will become.

Which is exactly why first you should look to every remotely popular site that offers content or products similar to yours.  Do not restrict on the basis that a company is too far out of your area, or seems initially unwilling to deal with you, as these can still turn out to become valuable resources in the future.  Be patient and polite and try to approach as many different sites as possible.

Make more contacts than you think you’ll ever need, even if a few of them seem as though they won’t be as beneficial as you would hope.  Mostly because you never know what will happen, and the traffic influence you receive from unexpected sources can differ greatly.  So it’s very important to maintain a good standing with everyone you try to network your site with.

And finally, make sure you always allow appropriate response time for any sites your interested in networking with.  Sometimes it can take webmasters a very long time to respond, so don’t be surprised if it takes a few days or weeks.  Keep trying and you’ll see the benefits of effectively networking your website.
