22 Nov 09 You are An Expert, Own Your Domain Part – I

Believe it or not, you are an expert.

Expert of what?

That you have to find out. Regardless of what others say, I am pretty much confident that you are an expert. Now the issue at hand is to make you realize that you are an expert. I am writing this series to help you realize your true potential. The first part will talk about the changes one need to bring in oneself in order to become an expert everyone looks at in your chosen niche.

Accept it, flaunt it

Many people, despite knowing a great deal about certain topic, abstain from calling themselves an expert.

Why?

Because they are afraid of being an expert. They think being an expert is something that is beyond their reach, and they need to know more about the topic before they can be expert. Shed this no-expert syndrome with adding ABC specialist, or XYZ expert after you name. You do not need only to be an expert, you need to flaunt your expertise as well. You need to realize that you are an expert, and you need to tell others as well.

Get on top of the tallest building in your town, take very, very deep breath, hold it for 3-4 seconds, and expel all the air in your lung while shouting “I AM AN EXPERT”. I know this is a little exaggeration, but it will work. Have you taken it seriously?

Show credentials

Have you done some certificate course or completed a diploma or degree in fields related to your work? Any specialized certificate or any other course? Have you won some award or something? If your answer is yes to any or all of these then you all ready know more than others does. Start flaunting your credentials. Put it on your website and blog. Mention the most trust-worthy certificate in your signature line like, Mr. your name, XYZ certified expert.

Promote

Out of sight is out of mind, and it is out of market as well. Do not think that people will come knocking at your door because you are an expert. For the starter, no one knows that you are an expert of something. So, make them realize your true worth by writing a succinct and power-packed bio about yourself and post it on your website, blog, leaflet, and wherever you can. This is not those ugly self-glorifying behavior, simply put, it is a promotion that everyone does.
