06 May 09 Do E-Cigarettes Help You Quit Smoking?

Quitting smoking is oftentimes described as one of the hardest things you would ever have to do, which is likely why most people put off quitting much longer than they should, further damaging their body beyond repair.  Although not all would seem to be against you in your bid to stop smoking, as new technology is developed everyday to ease that pain and trouble of quitting.  Take E-Cigarettes for example, they seem like a fantastic alternative for smokers to pollute their body and the environment around them less, while slowly quitting the habit altogether at the same time.

And just in case you don’t yet know about them, e-cigarettes are electronic devices usually designed to look like a cigarette.  They replicate the feel of smoking through an LED light at the end of the cigarette, and odorless vapor that looks like smoke that is also released, creating the illusion of smoking.  E-cigarettes also have a cartridge at the end where you would inhale that allows you to intake nicotine from the e-cigarette, but none of the other toxins normally found in cigarettes.  Therefore being a ‘healthier’ alternative to regular smoking, as well as calming your nicotine cravings.

You are also afforded the ability to change how much nicotine is output by your e-cigarette by changing which type of cartridge you use.  Using less nicotine you could effectively use an e-cigarette to lessen your nicotine dependency slowly, until your body was no longer addicted.  The only problem is that there is no conclusive evidence that says e-cigarettes are all that helpful to those trying to quit smoking, in the long run.

The problem with e-cigarettes is that  you’re still inhaling nicotine, which on it’s own is still awful for your lungs.  Well, inhaling practically anything besides air is pretty much bad for your lungs.  Sure you’re not getting all the cigarette toxins, but you’re still getting one of the most dangerous and addictive quantities in a purer form.  Which is actually why e-cigarettes can lead to nicotine addiction or dependency in practically as many cases as cigarettes.

Which is why you’re likely better off choosing from some of the already FDA approved methods of quitting smoking.  Such as nicotine gum, or patches.   Although in the end it’s just you, and your willpower that can beat something like cigarette addiction.  Which is why if you really want to quit, the first step is as simple as knowing that you really want to quit, and then being determined enough to do so.

18 Feb 09 Keeping Yourself Fit With Body Workouts

Keep going.  That is what you should tell yourself when you are doing your work outs.  Getting exercise workouts are the best ways by which you can lose weight.  Do yourself a favor. Get rid of diet pills that you have stored in your medicine cabinet.  It can only do you more harm than good.  There are a lot of women who have taken diet pills that worked at first but then their health took a dive and then it took a turn for the worst that hospitalization was required.  It can be the easier way out but you will never know the effects of what has happened to you until it’s too late.

What is the best workout to take?  The answer depends on what area of your body you want most worked on and what you do for a living. If you are just a homebody, any DVD workouts can do.  You can do hip-hop abs workout or turbo jam.  These two are the more popular workout videos these days. But, there is a lot of workout videos available ranging from aerobics to yoga. All you got to do is decide which one is for you. If you are an athlete, you might need more than a video; you need to do a full body workout with programs for weight lifting, ply metrics and others.

With workouts, you will not only lose weight but your body will tone the way you want it.  You will look healthy, your skin will glow and you will lose a lot of the toxins that are building up inside you as the sweat gets out.  Of course, the body will be stronger, the heart will be stronger and the lungs will be stronger.  You will live longer and look younger.  All these you can get with full body workouts.  Actually there are no disadvantages when it comes to getting a workout, especially if you do it right.

Starting a workout is easy.  Maintaining it is hard.   There will be days when you do not want to move a muscle.  Those are the days when you need to exercise more.  Do not stop.  You owe it to yourself to live a healthier life.

Of course, exercising, no matter how rigorous it is, will not work without the proper diet.    So set aside 30 minutes or 40 minutes of your time every day for exercise and eat right.  After a couple of months, you will definitely see and feel the difference.

19 Jan 09 Like Fall Flowers – A Tip To Care For Your Winter Garden Pond

Just like caring for your fall flowers it is just as important to beware of what the needs are of your garden pond. Most garden ponds are built to give additional beauty to the area. Yes, these are becoming more common.

Some of these have fish which adds another dimension They are relatively easy to care for. In the colder climates there are some important tips I have for you. If you are susceptible to the water freezing you need to read on.

The debris that collects in the garden ponds can give off toxic waste including gases. Like fall flowers these toxic chemicals need a place to go. This is into the atmosphere.

If they can’t escape they become trapped under the ice and can raise havoc with more bacteria being formed. If you have fish in your garden pond their internal systems will begin to suffer and could fail.

Part of fishes protection against disease is a slime protection over the fish including the gills. Toxins and bacteria break this down. You will notice the brilliant colors become dulled. Protecting Your Garden Pond.

In the late fall you should partially remove debris that collects in the bottom of your pond. Removing this will diminish any toxins that will be given off. And the pond will do better over the winter and any fish will survive it.

Do You Have Fish?

You should consider doing several things. First fish will do well if the pond freezes over providing there is a depth of 1 1/2 to 2 feet deep section. They will survive very well.

It will even be better if there is about 2 foot area that doesn’t freeze over. You could use an aquarium oxygenator to help with this. If you have a pump that creates a small fountain it will keep a space ice free.

Don’t over-feed your fish. They don’t need as much food during the winter and the end of fall. Even early spring there no need to feed as much as during the summer months.

Some Experts Say…

…using some natural salt, that is, salt obtained by drying ocean water is good for your garden pond. It seems to help with the slime coating and also get rid of some of the bacteria and fungus that begin in garden ponds. Check with your garden expert to see about the dose of natural salt. This may be a bit controversial but I would err on the side of doing it.

Although the onset of fall flowers should remind you about also taking care of your garden pond. This doesn’t mean there is a great deal of work.
